Live a Story...Leave a Legacy: The opening chapters... It would seem the appropriate time for me to finally get some thoughts out on the blog. Having been through team camp, August and now a couple of meets our seasons story lines have become far clearer than they were when I last sat down and attempted to write. I've always been into the stories that our Cross Country seasons create for both the program (plot driven) and for the individual student athletes that drive it (character driven). It often makes for the perfect storm of the characters (you all) reacting to events of the season and changing along the way. Usually a good recipe for interesting stories.  It is in "story" that we sometimes find answers to our own deep questions in life and develop meaning from our past and purpose for our future. Camp REcap....

 A quick Camp RECAP…. Team Camp once again proved to be fantastic for our team. Congratulations to Team 7…..”Jump” Kris Kross Probst, Chris Desmond, Evan Lunsford, Dana Oryschyn,Sydny Kurtz, Hannah Simon Straub Straub, Ethan In what was once again a fun and tough Lip Sync Battle, they prevailed. Sydny becomes a back to back champion in the event and Chris Probst kept the title in the family, winning as his brother did a year ago. At camp this year we discussed a couple of things we will refer to as the year moves along. First, we talked about Confronting the Brutal Facts and how the Stockdale Paradox will be a key feature of our process this season. The Rest of Summer....and Team Camp Report

 Team Camp Report and Important Information for Getting the Season started on August 13th  2018 Team Camp was a success. A fitting beginning to arguably one of the most anticipated and exciting seasons in program history.  Lip Sync was hotly contested with every team doing an incredible job in performing their Disney themed song. The winning margin was a mere 2 points of scoring with Moana's "You're Welcome" leaving with the championship trophy (mini guitars) over Mulan's "I'll Make a Man".  Mueller State Park provided an incredible two days of running for the team. The highlight of the running came on Monday. As roughly 16 team members climbed the final climb of camp together with the mantra "5 more steps for the team" as their guide.
